Fashion Wish List

As I am going to America very soon to see my fiancé, (eeeeeek) I've been trying not to spend any money so that I can save it all for the trip. So instead of buying the clothes, I have resorted to creating a wish list instead :)

Fashion Wish List

At the minute, I am loving hats! I never used to wear hats but I've recently really got into them. I love this Topshop one which would be perfect for a casual or smart occasion. I also love the colour.

I really really really want these Whistles ripped jeans! They're such a good fit & have the perfect amount of 'ripedness' for me.

Having recently been offered a new job (yay me) I'm really into finding 'office wear' which is why I am loving both of the skirts on here. The coral coloured one from Topshop is again multi-functional like the hat in that I could wear it at the weekend on a warm day but also smarten it up for work. The Ted Baker one is just so delicate & I love the flower pattern.

I have been wanting some Ray-Bans for ages!! I just haven't been able to justify spending the money when I had a pair of perfectly acceptable sunglasses. These are now falling to pieces & since I'm going to the USA I'm definitely going to be purchasing some :)

Clearly, I'm loving Topshop right now! These shoes are amazing. Really simple, dainty & could work for many occasions. Definitely need to add these to my wardrobe.

This Whistles clutch is a gorgeous blue & also is such a good size to fit all the essentials in.

Hopefully this has given you some ideas for you to add to your summer wardrobe :)

My Top 5 Nail Polishes

I'm definitely one of those people who can't live without having nail polish on at all times! I think I just got so used to having it on that I hate my nails without it :)

Even though I do sometimes find applying it very frustrating, especially having to wait for what seems like a lifetime for it to dry, I'm still addicted!

I definitely have a few favourites that I use over & over again for different reasons so here they are!

Apologies for the colours that are running slightly low!

This nail polish is definitely my all time favourite! It's such a natural colour that it almost looks like I'm not wearing it which is perfect for my job. It also goes with everything which means I don't have to quickly change it if I'm going out for a meal & want to wear a specific outfit! This nail polish will never get old & I'll shortly be in need of a new bottle again!!!

This colour reminds me of spring so much. I love the minty colour & it's really durable! I wore it last year for a weeks holiday in Cornwall & it stayed on so well! I also love the applicator brush as it makes the nail polish go on really evenly & smoothly.

3. Essie - 'E-nuff is e-nuff'

This is definitely a summer colour & is perfect for holidays! I can't wait to wear it again now the sun is out & shining. It's a good mix of a red & orange which makes it very versatile too!

4. Chanel - 'Frisson'

Who doesn't love to have a good Chanel nail polish?! I must admit, it doesn't last that long before it starts chipping but I still love it. It has a slight shimmer to it which is the main reason I bought it & again its such a natural colour rather than being in your face like the Essie polish!

5. Topshop - 'Spilled Milk'

Before I bought this nail polish, I was always really sceptical about Topshop makeup. I'm not really sure why but I just didn't trust it too much. This nail polish has definitely changed my opinion completely. I love the packaging, applicator brush & the colour that it gives. Sometimes with whites you can find they look a bit wishy washy & need a million coats but this is a really good one. I feel like its really versatile as well, seeing as I wore it at Christmas time with a glitter polish over the top but can also wear it in Spring/Summer :)

So there you have it! My top 5 nail polishes :)

The only one that I couldn't find in the shops right now is the Topshop polish which is a shame but I've linked in a similar product in the heading! Hope that's helpful :)

Do you have a favourite nail polish that I should try? Let me know!

Bridesmaids Dresses

I've always been a bit nervous about starting to look for bridesmaids dresses. Everyone always dreads the bridesmaids dress as there's a myth that they're always really ugly & hideous! It's also really hard to find a style that suits everyone as well because your not going to have 2 or 3 bridesmaids that have the exact same body shape!

I really didn't want one of the usual styles as I always think they look a tad cheap, so I set myself a mission to find a list of bridesmaids dresses that weren't hideous :)
(In my opinion)

Here's what I found…

First stop on the online searching was Coast

I was pleasantly surprised with the range they had to offer, especially as there are a lot of spring colours at the moment which are a favourite of mine right now!

This dress is perfect for a summer wedding. It's a gorgeous mint green colour & I think it's very different to others I've seen because of the halter neck style.

If you've read my 'April Favourites' blog post you will probably already know that I love yellow and this dress is no exception! It's a perfect shade of yellow for a bridesmaids dress as it won't be too bright in photo's but isn't too pale that it'll be washed out!

I love this 'tea dress' style with the lace over the bodice. Lace is so stunning & if your having lace on your wedding dress, it might be a nice idea to have the lace matching with your bridesmaids. I also absolutely love this colour!

This dress is so stunningly classic. I can imagine this dress is one that would suit most body shapes & seems perfect for a winter wedding because of the dark colour.

I then went onto House of Fraser so that I could see a variety of brands at the same time.

This isn't a usual colour that I would like but I actually really like it! It would be a nice colour to match with your colour scheme of the wedding & is quite a similar style to the 'Lilly Anna Dress' from Coast.

My favourite part of this dress is the back with the criss cross design. I really love the bright pink colour & I can imagine this dress being worn for a beach wedding :)

John Lewis was my next click. Another website where you can easily search for multiple brands!

These pictures definitely don't do this dress or the colour justice! It's called 'peony pink' and I just think it's a gorgeous colour! I love the floaty skirt on this dress with the fitted top as well as the mesh insert near the neckline!

Finally, I went onto a website called 'Kelsey Rose' which is a website I came across & I'm glad I did. It's slightly harder to find these dresses if you want to buy one as they don't sell them online, they just put a select few into different retail stores but with a quick email to the stores you'll soon find the dress you desire!
One thing that I love about this website is that each dress is available in a variety of colours so you can hopefully match a style to your theme :)

Again, I love the back of this dress & the colour. I always really love the gathered material around the bodice.

This is such an unusual colour for a bridesmaids dress but I actually really like it! The colour is called 'Honeydew' & I think it works really well with the lace on the dress. Once more, I love the back & the dress itself is perfect! It's a very fitted dress so may not suit all but I don't see you can't try them on! You never know :)

Hopefully this has given you some ideas of some bridesmaids dresses that aren't all a typical style that you'd expect to see!

I hope you've enjoyed this post - let me know of any other websites where I can find dresses

Summer Season

It's official! Summer has begun. BBQ season is now upon us & I love it!!!

We all know that us Brits love a good BBQ once the weather hits 18 degrees or more & my family is no exception to this :)

We always tend to go overboard on a BBQ & end up having left overs for around a week afterwards but BBQ's just remind me of good weather, fun times & great food.

This Sunday gone was our first BBQ of summer & I can't wait for there to be many more with friends & family :)

Here's some pictures from our first BBQ :)

Did you all make the most of the hot weather last weekend & have a BBQ too?

Tartan Inspiration

I absolutely love tartan! Even when it's not wintery or Christmassy I want to wear it all the time! You can just never get enough tartan :)

(I even wore tartan for our engagement party!)

When my fiancé and I were planning the theme for our wedding, we went through so many different colours. One of the themes that we very nearly went with was tartan. The main reason we decided not to was because we're having a summer wedding & I didn't think it would fit too well with the surroundings :) If, however, we were having a winter wedding, the theme would definitely have been tartan!

I've found so many pictures on Pinterest of different ways to incorporate tartan into your wedding so I thought I'd show you a small collage that I created on my phone!

*

Top left - Add a tartan ribbon to your bouquet. You could also add it to your flower girl & bridesmaids bouquets as well as using tartan for the groomsmen's boutonniere's.

Centre top - I love the idea of having tartan blankets around so that people can go outside & use them to keep warm

Top right - This waistcoat is perfect! I love waistcoats at the best of times, but having a tartan theme makes it all the more special

Bottom left - The place setting above has slightly more tartan than I would use for a place setting but I still think it's really cute & Christmassy!

Centre bottom - This tartan jacket is perfect for those of you who are having a winter wedding & don't want to freeze or look blue on your wedding pictures

Bottom right - I feel like the tartan ribbon on this cake is really classy & simple. The cake itself is so plain & the ribbon just gives it some extra umph!

*Obviously all of these tartans are different colours & patterns so you would probably want to make sure that you can get enough of the perfect pattern and colour that you want for your wedding before starting to purchase it!*

*

Left - These lanterns are so 'pinterest.' I just love them! They would be perfect in a church alongside the chairs where your guests would be sitting. You could then also move them to the reception area for lighting or picture purposes. These would be a perfect DIY budget job as well :)

Middle - I love this type of menu/place setting design as its really simple, clean & not too big or small. Added with the tartan, I think it makes a beautiful setting

Right - This flask would be a perfect gift for the groomsmen, keeping with the theme

A Day Trip: Lincoln, Haddon Hall & OOTD

Over the last few days we've had some friends over from France as we participate in 'twinning.'

(For those of you who don't know what that is, it's where a village from the UK & a village from Europe pair & go to visit each other once a year)

Because of this, I have been a leisurely lady for the past 2 days, getting to visit different places & eat lots of food :) great, I know!

On Thursday we took them to Lincoln to see the Cathedral & the steep cobbled streets. I've only ever been to Lincoln once before & just stayed near the University area so it was nice to be able to see other parts as well. The cathedral was absolutely beautiful & I felt like I was in Hogwarts because the lights almost looked as if they were floating!

Here's some pictures of my day in Lincoln :)

Always pulled in by baked goods!!

Definitely looking rather short here!

Amazing arches & "floating" lights aka Hogwarts Great Hall ;)

Amazing stained glass windows

Love the narrow cobbled streets

Yet again, I found a traditional sweet shop

These lollipops looks incredible! I went with a gin & tonic one :)

OOTD -
(Looking super stylish with my camera bag!)

Coat - Topshop (last year)
Top - Paul Smith (last year)
Jeans - Topshop
Shoes - Converse

I had such a lovely day exploring Lincoln & even though it was still pretty chilly, my spirits were kept up by the beautiful surroundings.

On Friday, we took a trip to a place called Haddon Hall which is near Bakewell in Derbyshire. I love driving through this area as it's all really hilly & has an amazing landscape.

The tour around Haddon Hall was really interesting & it was amazing to see such old architecture!

The hall almost looked like a castle :) very different to any others I've been to before!

These drawings on the walls in the chapel were absolutely beautiful & it's so weird to think how long they've been there for!

Now that's what you call a dining room table

This was my favourite room by far! It was so spacious & long & definitely made me think that it would make a beautiful wedding venue :)

The beautiful gardens

OOTD:
Jacket - Topshop (a few years old)
Top - H&M ("   ")
Necklace - Topshop
Trousers - Zara
Shoes - Converse

I had such a lovely couple of days doing some exploring of new places & learning new things! I feel well & truly "cultured."
