Everyday Makeup

I do love a good "look" post that I can utilise for a night out or a special occasion but there's nothing better than an everyday look that's simple & doesn't take forever & a day to do.

Here's mine...

Guest Blog | Wedding Beauty Game

How do you ensure your beauty game is on point for the biggest day of your life?

What formulations will photograph well and last the distance at your wedding?

Doing your own make-up for such a massive occasion can seem nerve-wracking, but it could be one of the best decisions you’ll ever make. After all, who knows your preferences, what suits you, and your plans better than yourself? With the right tools, good products, and a little know-how you can create the look of your dreams to complement that dress, I promise.

Who am I? I’m Sarah, a writer, make-up addict and connoisseur of all pretty things over at www.seriouslyshallow.co.uk. I had my ‘happy ever after’ three years ago when I married my husband Sebastian – and I learned a thing or two about wedding beauty along the way.

As a big fan of Charlie’s beautifully written blog, I’m delighted to be doing this post to share what I learned.

Review | Soap & Glory Archery DIY Brow Bar

As you may or may not know, I am slightly obsessed with eyebrows. I love discovering new products to use & am a little OCD with my own.

I came across this Soap & Glory 'DIY Brow Bar' whilst searching the shelves & something about it drew me in. I'm not normally a fan of the 'eyebrow kits' as I like to mix & match products as well as colours but thought I'd give it a whirl!

Brushes Galore

I've found that makeup brushes can be the key to great looking makeup. Find some you love & you're onto a winner! Even though I have 2 pots full of them, I always use the same brushes without even realising.

Lipstick Collection

My lipstick collection is starting to grow & with it my love for lipsticks. It's been a slow grower but I'm becoming more & more obsessed with lippy!

Here's my lipstick collection

The Classic Look

Is there a girl out there who doesn't love a classic red lip & liner? I don't think so.
Personally, it's one of my favourites but is one I leave for special occasions.

The good thing with a classic look is that it's versatile & can be made dressier or more casual. Use this look for your wedding day, a beauty blogger event, a party or even for every day life!

Foundation Fever

I've spent a long time looking for various foundations to use for different occasions & I finally feel like I've achieved this.

Lipstick Love

It takes me a while to find a lipstick that I really love. As I'm fair & have red hair, I find it hard to pick shades that really suit me but after a fair few years I've finally found my favourite four.

Here are my top 4 lipsticks that I really love & have stayed with me for a long time now!

MAC  - Satin 'M.A.C Red'
This is my favourite 'red lip' lipstick. It's really durable & is a gorgeous shade of red. Perfect for dressed up makeup looks!

MAC - Lustre 'Milan Mode'
This is such a versatile colour. I use it the day to brighten up my makeup but also at night with a deep smokey eye.

MAC - Cremesheen 'Creme Cup'
This is by far my most used lipstick. It's a gorgeous texture & doesn't dry my lips out. It's also that perfect colour to use at all times of day. Perfection!

Chanel - Rouge Allure Velvet 'La Sensuelle'
I know this is another red lippy but it's a colour to die for. It's a deeper red which I mainly use during winter.

Let me know what your top lipsticks are - I'm always on the look out for more!!

Thank you for reading

Love,
Dainty Bride xx

What's In My Travel Bag?

Here's my 'What's in my travel bag' from when I went to visit my fiancé in America :)

(Click on the bold writing for direct links)

I love my Longchamp bag so much! It doesn't look too big but can fit so much into it - almost reminds me of Mary Poppins' bag :) It's perfect for the airport because of the material, size & colour as it'll go with almost every airport outfit.

1.
I always take my Kindle on holiday as I love to spend hours by the pool or in the airport catching up on my favourite books.
(You'll also find that my Kindle was in my May Favourites)

2.
I'm such a cold person that I have to take a pair of thick woolly socks to the airport! Especially when I'm going on a summer holiday as I tend to wear either sandals or flip flops to the airport & then my feet get really cold :(

3.
This one is pretty standard as everyone needs their purse, so here you have my Mulberry purse that I got for my 22nd birthday!

4.
I like to take a small bag with me for all random necessary items such as plasters, medicine, inhaler, creams & lady items but I won't photograph these seeing as they're pretty boring!

5.
I always keep my sunglasses in my travel bag too for when I leave the airport/plane in case I have to go outside & can't see :)
(You can again, find my sunglasses in my June Favourites)

6.
I take my Filofax everywhere I go! I like to jot down any information & in case anything gets planned it's best to have it handy.
(That is the Filofax I have but unfortunately they don't seem to sell it in that colour anymore)

7.
A passport is definitely an obvious in a travel bag & I have mine in a really soft leather case which I can't even remember where I got it from as I've had it since I was about 16!!

8.
This little travel document organiser is the best thing EVER! If your an organised freak like me then this will be a dream item for you too :) My lovely colleagues got it for me as a leaving present & I used it so much in America.
(Again I can't find the exact one I have even though it's really new so I linked another one that I love)

9.
I really struggle with my ears popping whenever a plane takes off or lands, so I always make sure that I have some sort of hard sweets that I can have to stop this! I would definitely recommend this if you suffer with this as well as it always stops it from happening.

I also like to take a variety of beauty products with me on the plane to keep myself feeling human & hydrated!

1.
I always take this Alpha H Eye Cream with me to keep my eyes hydrated from all of the aircon.
(You'll also find this eye cream on 'Love The Skin Your In')

2.
After touching various machines & rails, I always find it useful to have an anti-bacterial hand wash to use before eating on the plane in case I can't get to the toilet to wash my hands.

3.
As well as an eye cream, I also like to take some face moisturiser with me for the same reason, especially during long flights!

4.
Even though it's really air conditioned on all flights, I feel like I need to powder some of the shine sometimes before facing the public & scaring them so I tend to take my powder from my make up bag which at the moment is the 'MAC Prep & Prime Transparent Finishing Powder.'

5.
This miniature 'Marc Jacobs - Daisy' perfume is just too cute! I got it with a gift set & it's perfect to keep in your travel bag or handbag.

6.
This one is a tad boring but it was in there so I didn't want to miss it out! I always have to take a small tube of my eczema cream as air conditioning really dries it out & makes it sore.

7.
This lipgloss is gorgeous. It smells/tastes amazing & has a 25 SPF which is perfect for a windy beach day to protect those lips! Also perfect to keep those lips hydrated & looking a little more colourful than the au natural look!

8.
Another lip product. This time 'Burt's Bees' which I tend to use all of the time & then pop into my travel bag just in case I want a balm rather than a lip gloss.

9.
And finally, another lip product!! This time it's more of a makeup product than a lip care product in the form of 'MAC Creme Cup.'
(You'll find this lipstick being used in my 'Subtly Smokey' makeup look.)

An Engagement Party

A couple of weeks ago I went to my auntie's engagement party in Leeds :) it was a really nice evening & a good chance for some of the family to get together!

I was busy during the day & didn't have time to re-do my makeup so I had to do a re-vamp of my daytime makeup to make it appropriate for a party!

Here's my day to night makeup look :)

In the day, I tend to keep it quite natural with a small amount of liner & mascara

Excuse the eyebrows - it'd been a long day & they aren't looking the best!

(Left eye)

I started off by applying 'half baked' from the Urban Decay Naked Palette.

(Left Eye)

I then added some definition to my crease & started to create the flick outline using a gorgeous glittery plum colour from a MAC palette I got as an Easter present.

(Bottom Colour)

I continued to build it up until I was happy with it!

Crazy flicks before I blended them out :)

I then added my MAC liquid eyeliner which is in my current favourites at the minute! I sorted my eyebrows out, added some more mascara & bronzer et voila...

The finished look :)

We then drove up to Leeds & quickly got changed into our outfits before setting off for the party.
(Apologies for the lighting in the hotel!)

Dress - Miss Selfridge
Necklace - Accessorize

On our way home on the Sunday we stopped off for a Sunday lunch in a restaurant called 'The Cadeby Inn' It was really lovely & such a beautiful place!

We were sat in "The Conservatory" which was a beautiful open room with only 4 tables but lots of windows!

I loved this lamp shade & the wine displayed

Of course I had my favourite drink, cranberry & disaronno

For starter I had a prawn & smoked salmon cocktail which was delicious. It was so light & fresh & came with a piece of warm tasty bread :)

I found this beautiful picture in the ladies toilets & just felt the need to take a photo of it :)

For my main course, I went with the pork loin & apple mash which was sooo tasty!

If you have the chance to go for a Sunday lunch I would definitely recommend as it's pretty good value for money & is also really tasty :) The garden at the front also looked perfect for relaxing on a sunny day.
