We had been planning my mum's 50th birthday for quite some time so it was a shock when the weekend we were setting off to London came around so quickly!
We got up bright & early on the Saturday to make the most of the day. I had such a lovely time in London exploring Covent Garden, going to the theatre & eating delicious food!
The last time we all went to Shake Shack we were in NYC so we had to go again just to see if it was as good!
(I think the picture speaks for itself)
My mum's favourite musical is 'Les Miserables' so we booked tickets to see it even though we've already been plenty of times. It's definitely a musical that never gets old & if you haven't seen it yet then i'd definitely recommend - I can't imagine someone not enjoying it!
The birthday girl herself enjoying a cocktail at 'The Covent Garden Cocktail Club'
This place is definitely worth a visit. If you've been to 'The Experimental Cocktail Club' then you'll definitely like this place. It's very small & dark (hence the rubbish pictures) but has some crazy cocktail mixes on the menu!
Following on from cocktails, we made our way through London to 'The Square' for some dinner. This has to be by far one of my favourite meals ever! The food was delicious & presented so beautifully as well as all the waitering staff being amazingly helpful but also really personable.
It was pretty windy so I struggled to get a photo of my outfit as you can see...
Before we'd even started, we got sent some amuse bouche to keep us going
This almost reminded me of the London 2012 Olympic Torch & was insanely tastily filled with frois gras.
We all went for the tasting menu so that we could try as much food as possible without having huge portions!
Tartare of milk fed veal with artichoke cream, burrata, white peach & green almond pesto
Sauté of Scottish langoustine tails with parmesan gnocchi and an emulsion of potato & truffle
Lasagne of Dorset crab with a cappuccino of shellfish & champagne foam
Roast fois gras with white peach, almonds & thyme
Charred fillet of cod with new seasons broccoli, 'baked' potatoes, white kohlrabi & red wine
Loin of black faced lamb with tomato, artichoke, salsa verde, garlic & olive oil
Sharpham cremet
Brillat-Savarin cheesecake with white peach
Fig soufflé with fig leaf & thyme ice cream
Feeling well & truly stuffed, we headed back to the hotel for some much needed beauty sleep!
Up early the next morning, we had some brunch & then went to the Tower of London to see all of the ceramic poppies.
Thank you for reading
